WRGC COMMUNITY CALENDAR

  • Sylva Webster High School class of 1978 will hold it's 30 year class reunion on Saturday night September 13, 2008 beginning at 7:00pm
  • Held at 553 Restaurant in Downtown Sylva
  • Dress is casual
  • Classmates are also invited to attend the Smoky Mountain Football game in Sylva on Friday night September 12, 2008, classmates will have a section to sit together at the game.

Jackson County Adult Day Care Program, is a professional service to older adults who are unable to live independently without the supportive care of their family and/or community. The program which is a part of the Jackson County Department on Aging is involved in two outreach projects providing handmade cushions to the patients at Broughton Hospital as well as for the local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Additionally, they are preparing holiday gifts for shut-in throughout Jackson County. They are currently in need of:

  • Empty, clean baby food jars with lids.

  • Clean, used panty hose to stuff cushions.

  • fabric remnants.

Anyone wishing to donate any of these items, call Art Morgan at 586-5441.

 

August 9-- Gospel Singing at Locust Field Baptist Church in Dillsboro 7pm featuring The Revelations Quartet, Joe Barnes, Johnny Ashe, Charlie Childers, and Christine Childers. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome.

August 12-- FREE Lunch ‘n Learn. The medical topic is Immunizations and will be presented by Carla Morgan, RN, BS, Nursing Supervisor of the Jackson County Department of Public Health. The FREE Lunch ‘n Learn will be held at the Jackson County Community Services Building, Room 234 beginning at 11:30 AM. CHAN and NC Extension Services are working together to hold a FREE Lunch ‘n Learn to discuss different medical topics on the second Tuesday of each month. If you would like to attend please register by calling 587-8259 or 587-8282. The deadline for registration is Monday, August 11th.  

August 27-- Southwestern Community College Blood Drive  (447 College Drive)11:00 am to 3:30 pm Please call 586-3129 for more information or to schedule an appointment. All presenting donors can enter a drawing for one of three $1000 gas cards! 

August 28-- United Community Bank Blood Drive  (55 Asheville Highway; Sylva, NC) 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Please call 631-9600 for more information or to schedule an appointment. All presenting donors can enter a drawing for one of three $1000 gas cards!

September 19-- Full Spectrum Farms presents Star Light Night: A Night On The Farm Friday, September 19, from 6 – 9 p.m. The gala will benefit Full Spectrum Farms as they seek to establish a residential farm community for adults with autism in Western North Carolina. The gala will be held at Claxton Farm in Weaverville North Carolina and will include an oyster roast, low country buffet, live auction and live bluegrass music.  For more information please contact Full Spectrum Farms at 828.293.2521 again that’s 828.293.2521.
