Heavy rains blamed for landslide in Macon County

Heavy overnight rains are being blamed for a landslide that shutdown a Macon County Road for most of the day Sunday. Officials say some of the debris was loosened by all the moisture Saturday night causing a large boulder to slide off the mountain just northwest of Franklin, bringing some of the debris in across the road, a maintenance engineer for Macon and Clay counties confirmed in a press release Monday.
It took crews from Macon and Clay County some time to clear the debris and reopen the road.
